The Mandalorian universe is in the age of expansion as it welcomes new characters into the mix. The series initially started with Pedro Pascal's titular bounty hunter alongside the surprise arrival of Baby Yoda, a foundling that debuted at the tail-end of its first episode. Other allies of Mando that were introduced in its first season include Carl Weathers' Greef Karga, Gina Carano's Cara Dune, Nick Nolte's Kuiil, and Emily Swallow's the Armorer.
The Mandalorian Season 2 took it up a notch by showcasing even more heroes and villains across the Star Wars universe. With Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon lurking in the shadows during the season, Mando needed more allies than ever, and the show delivered on that front.
The second season of the hit Star Wars series featured the likes of Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano, Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan, Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett, Ming-Na Wen's Fennec Shand, Timothy Olyphant's Cobb Vanth, and the return of Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker.
Now, as the show heads into its highly-anticipated third season, it looks like a new cast member has been added to the growing ensemble.
Jim O'Heir Joins Star Wars
Jim O'Heir appeared as a guest alongside Rob Lowe and Alan Yang on the latter's Parks and Recollection podcast to tease his next project.
During the episode, O'Heir was asked about said project, but the actor admitted that he couldn't say anything about it. Still, the Parks and Recreation actor revealed that he's in New Mexico:
“Oh shoot. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say where I am. I can say a State. I’m in a state, New Mexico, I don’t know.”
Lowe chimed in and teased that he knows what O'Heir is working on, saying that it "rhymes with the latest installment of Bar Wars:"
“I will say, Jim, I know what you’re working on, and it rhymes with the latest installment of Bar Wars.”
In a breakdown, the Bespin Bulletin noted that The Mandalorian Season 3 is still filming and scheduled to wrap in March 2022. The outlet shared that the Pedro Pascal-led series typically films at Manhattan Beach Studios in Los Angeles and a train yard in El Segundo.
Bespin Bulletin also pointed out that the crew behind The Mandalorian had been shooting scenes on a ship and in a campsite on a desert location, thus hinting that these sequences are in New Mexico.
That said, it's possible that O'Heir could be filming scenes for The Mandalorian Season 3, but his role is still unknown.
O'Heir is best known for his role as Jerry Gergich in Park and Recreations.
Will Jim O'Heir Appear in The Mandalorian Season 3?
Jim O'Heir's Star Wars role is still unknown, but the latest evidence could hint that fans will get to see him sooner rather than later. If O'Heir appears in The Mandalorian Season 3, then his involvement adds more star power to an already-stacked ensemble of the Star Wars series.
It remains to be seen if O'Heir will have a major role in the series or a minor one. It's possible that he could serve as one of the new allies of the runaway pair of Mando and Grogu in the third season, potentially helping the duo with information about the Darksaber and Mandalore.
On the flip side, there's a chance that he could be at the other end of the moral spectrum. With Moff Gideon in shackles at the end of Season 2, O'Heir's character could end up being the reason why the Imperial officer escapes.
Whatever the case, the possibilities are endless for O'Heir's mysterious Star Wars character.
The Mandalorian Season 3 is expected to arrive around Christmas 2022.
