Filming for Tatiana Maslany's She-Hulk seemingly wrapped production last year, but reshoots for the Disney+ show only offically ended this January. As for Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel, reshoots were still happening as of February, which has led fans to believe She-Hulk would be the next Marvel Studios series to release after Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight.
Despite She-Hulk having wrapped filming before Ms. Marvel, along with a report of the teenage hero's series releasing in Summer 2022, Jennifer Walters will be late to the party. In a bit of a twist, it appears that Kamala Khan will be ready for release before the Amazonian lawyer.
Ms. Marvel Debuting On Disney+ Before She-Hulk
During Disney's Annual Meeting of Shareholders, CEO Bob Chapek confirmed that the next Marvel Studios Disney+ series to release after Moon Knight would be Ms. Marvel, with She-Hulk arriving "later this year" after Ms. Marvel.
On International Women's Day, it was also confirmed that Ms. Marvel will release on Disney+ this summer, which means that She-Hulk likely won't arrive until the fall.
Disappointing Update for She-Hulk Fans
She-Hulk coming after Ms. Marvel is likely not out of continuity or story woes, but rather that it simply won't be ready. This is an understandable outcome, considering Tatiana Maslany's character will be 100% CGI like Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, who dons a motion-capture costume for every appearance as Bruce Banner's rageful alter ego.
The post-production effects is a massive undertaking for a series, especially when the character is meant to be in that form most of the time. It doesn't help that the series will also see the return of Bruce Banner's Smart Hulk, a version of Bruce Banner that is completely CGI, and Emil Blonsky's Abomination on top of having to render She-Hulk herself.
Since there will be at least three massive CGI characters acting as both regulars and supporting characters on the show, it isn't a surprise that the series might need more time, despite having finished filming way before Ms. Marvel. Beyond that, even more potentially CGI-intense characters like Hulk's son Skaar or even Howard the Duck could be among the ensemble.
She-Hulk streams on Disney+ later this year.
